Starting with the 2021 reporting year, the sunset of the CMS Web interface means that ACO member TINs will have to generate and file CQMs just like everyone else.
For most providers, this means using Ambulatory-Certified EHR Technology (CEHRT). Although this is really not difficult, many provider groups will need a little help.
For hospital-based providers, the result is a little more difficult and costly. Under MACRA, CQMs can only be submitted using software Certified by CMS. Absent CEHRT (and hospital EHR does not qualify), providers will need to contract with a Certified Registry or QCDR. These contracts should be in place at or near the beginning of the reporting year.
Failure to take appropriate action could result in the ACO overall achieving MACRA CQM scores so low as to incure penalties across all TINs - not just those who drop the ball.
